2022 History & Archaeology Group Report Annual Parish Meeting

Fiskerton History and Archaeology Group.

The small group of us who started to engage with the Council for British Archaeology East Midlands Parish Boundary Project reported on before, stopped work on it at the start of the first Covid lockdown and we haven't returned to it. It turned out be very detailed, requiring, for example 12 figure grid references for everything that is plotted. I have come to the conclusion that the survey is better aimed at archaeologists who have the necessary expertise and equipment and so we will not be continuing.

I still have hope that 3 of us might do some work on the parish chest project that a previous report has mentioned but that may not be possible. In which case I think we might have to call it a day and I will have to think what do do with all the information former members of the group and I have accumulated over the years and which I have in my possession, most of which was done to produce the two books on Fiskerton that we successfully published, copies of which are still available. Other members of our original group have moved away and, sadly, one has died and I am winding down!

I hope that the above will suffice Michelle but do, let me know if there is anything else you need. I have to say that the majority of groups like ours gradually fade away, as has happened in other villages, once members of the group disperse or the original objective has been achieved.
